Unserious has acquired Creepz, the lizard-themed NFT collection that became one of the most recognizable brands of the 2021-22 cycle, with financing from entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman and the blessing of the project's original founders.
The deal's headline detail is the return of Psychrome, the creative mind who originally built the Creepz lore and universe. He will lead IP development going forward. Outside of crypto, Psychrome has a track record as a globally exhibited artist with commercial collaborations spanning Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio.
The acquiring company, Unserious, describes itself as focused on decentralized brands. Its team brings operating experience across consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise technology, and was involved in some of crypto's largest token launches, including the ApeCoin release, which remains one of the most-discussed token events in recent memory.
Unserious used the announcement to formally deny the existence of lizard people, their alleged evil activities, and any plans by the Creepz brand for global domination via a $CREEPZ token. The statement was issued without further clarification.
