Web3 company Unserious has completed the acquisition of Creepz, the lizard-themed NFT collection that became one of the most recognizable brands of the 2021-22 cycle, with financing backed by entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman.

The deal was struck with the support of Creepz's original founders. Its most immediate consequence is the return of Psychrome, the artist credited as the creative architect behind the entire Creepz lore, who will now lead IP development for the brand under Unserious ownership. Psychrome carries a resume that goes well beyond crypto: his commercial work spans Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio, and he has shown art in galleries internationally.

What Unserious Brings to the Table

The acquiring team claims operating experience across consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise technology. In crypto specifically, Unserious points to involvement in some of the sector's largest token launches, citing ApeCoin as a flagship example. That launch remains one of the most discussed in NFT history, generating nine-figure trading volume within its first days. At a time when the broader crypto market shed $270 billion in Q2 as volume and buying power contracted, reviving a legacy NFT IP is a deliberate counter-cycle bet.

Creepz built its following around a fictional mythology of reptilian overlords, a lore that proved unusually sticky even as NFT floor prices collapsed across the board after 2022. Unserious appears to be leaning into that identity: the company took a moment in its announcement to formally deny the existence of lizard people, their alleged evil activities, and any plans for $CREEPZ world domination.

No financial terms of the acquisition were disclosed. The deal was announced July 22nd, 2026, in Miami.
