Unserious has acquired Creepz, the lizard-themed NFT collection that became one of the more recognizable projects from the 2021-22 cycle, with backing from entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman. The deal was announced on July 22 from Miami and carries the support of Creepz's original founders.

The acquisition's central headline is the return of Psychrome, the original creative director behind the Creepz universe. He steps back in to lead IP development, bringing with him a portfolio of commercial work spanning Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio, as well as a track record as a globally exhibited artist. His return signals that Unserious is treating the brand as a live creative property, not a distressed asset pickup.

Who Is Running the Show Now

Beyond Psychrome's creative role, the Unserious team points to operating experience across consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise technology. The group also cites involvement in some of crypto's largest token launches, including ApeCoin, which remains a reference point in how NFT-adjacent communities try to extend their ecosystems. No deal valuation was disclosed.

Unserious used the announcement to formally deny that lizard people exist, that they conduct evil activities, or that any $CREEPZ world domination is in the works. The statement appears to be a nod to the collection's original lore rather than a regulatory filing.

The company describes itself as focused on the future of decentralized brands. Creepz joins that portfolio at a moment when the broader NFT market is still working through the hangover of the 2022 collapse, making the timing of a serious acquisition somewhat contrarian.
