South Korea's Financial Services Commission has examined 40 instances of crypto market manipulation over the past two years, according to Chair Lee Eog-won. The announcement coincided with the second anniversary of the Virtual Asset User Protection Act's implementation in the country.
The investigative efforts reflect regulatory authorities' increased attention to safeguarding the virtual asset sector amid growing local interest and global scrutiny. This act set the foundation for clearer rules around cryptocurrency usage and investor protection in South Korea, a key market in Asia's digital economy.
Lee Eog-won's comments highlight the ongoing challenges regulators face as they address fraudulent activities disrupting crypto trading. The commission's proactive stance aims to deter misconduct and bolster confidence in the market.
