Prometheum has secured its first disclosed client, Velocity Capital, for its SEC-regulated omnibus correspondent clearing platform, marking a significant milestone after years of development under U.S. securities regulations. This agreement offers an early commercial validation of Prometheum’s infrastructure designed to support digital assets within traditional brokerage systems.

Platform Details and Market Position

The partnership allows Velocity Capital to utilize Prometheum Capital’s services for execution, custody, clearing, and settlement of crypto assets. Prometheum’s omnibus correspondent clearing model enables broker-dealers to offer digital asset products without needing to build their own custody solutions or directly integrate blockchain and wallet technologies.

Prometheum’s Digital Brokerage Solutions platform supports a range of crypto assets, including tokenised securities, digitally native securities, and select crypto tokens, all accessible within conventional brokerage accounts. The company is positioning itself as a backend service provider for traditional broker-dealers seeking entry into digital assets workflows.

This announcement comes after Prometheum participated in a tokenised equity demonstration with DTCC, a project which also involved Velocity Capital. Prometheum remains one of the few firms operating with SEC-registered crypto broker-dealer infrastructure and one of the earliest approved under the Special Purpose Broker-Dealer framework established during former SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s tenure.

Industry watchers have been skeptical about the commercial viability of such a model, especially given the limited availability of tokenised securities and the willingness of issuers and broker-dealers to participate. The new Velocity Capital deal creates an example of early adoption but does not disclose specifics such as the assets supported, trading start dates, transaction volumes, or commercial terms.
