Data analyzed by Bitcoin.com News reveals that six cryptocurrency exchanges collectively hold approximately 6.6 million ETH across Ethereum's twelve largest wallets. These addresses account for more than 82% of the total ETH supply tracked within the top wallets on the network.

Dominance of Beacon Deposit Contract and Wrapped Ether

The Ethereum Beacon Deposit Contract leads with 88.29 million ETH, representing 73.16% of the combined holdings of the top twelve wallets. This contract operates as an escrow for all validators staking ETH to support the network's proof-of-stake consensus, and does not belong to a single entity.

Following this, the Wrapped Ether (WETH) contract holds 2,443,063 ETH, about 2.02% of the total. WETH enables ETH to circulate as an ERC-20 token across decentralized exchanges and lending platforms, serving as collateral rather than discretionary holdings.

Binance’s Substantial Share in Largest Wallets

Binance dominates exchange-controlled ETH holdings with three wallets totaling 3.19 million ETH, valued at roughly $5.9 billion at the current price of $1,860 per ETH. These include:

  • "Binance 7" with 1,996,008 ETH, characterized by large, infrequent transfers;
  • "Binance Hot Wallet 20" holding 739,595 ETH, supporting active withdrawal liquidity;
  • "Binance-Peg Tokens" wallet containing 454,999 ETH, backing Binance-issued wrapped tokens on other blockchains such as BNB Chain.

Other Exchanges and Layer 2 Bridges

Additional exchange wallets from Robinhood, Upbit, Bitfinex, and Gemini contribute to the custody of ETH within the top addresses. Layer 2 activity is also significant: Arbitrum and Base bridges hold a combined 1.63 million ETH, reflecting growing use of layer two scaling solutions.

the Beacon Deposit Contract also holds a small quantity of ERC-20 tokens, including $109,690 worth of PIKA and about $8,500 in USDT, though the reasons for these holdings remain unclear.

At the time of reporting, Ethereum’s price hovered near $1,860, influencing the valuation of exchange-held ETH reserves.
