AFX has achieved over $1.3 billion in total perpetual futures volume within just over a month after its mainnet launch, according to Ken C., Head of Growth. This milestone reflects significant activity on its sovereign blockchain, which is built specifically for perpetual trading.
The ALP liquidity vault of AFX attracted more than $21 million during the same period, signaling strong demand across both crypto and traditional asset markets. As perpetual futures trading reached $6.7 trillion on the top 10 decentralized exchanges in 2025, competition intensified among platforms aiming for faster execution and deeper liquidity.
Sovereign L1 Tailored for Perpetual Markets
AFX employs a sovereign Layer 1 blockchain designed to handle order books, matching, settlement, margin, and risk systems natively from inception. Ken emphasized that congestion on shared networks, such as NFT minting, can hinder leveraged trading by delaying order execution.
The platform reports finalization times around 100 milliseconds, comparable to the duration of a human blink which ranges between 100 and 400 milliseconds. This low latency is key as any delay in execution can affect trade entry, exit prices, liquidation risk, and automated strategy performance.
Focus on AI-Powered Trading and Security
AFX aims to be recognized as a trader-centric platform optimized for AI agents. It is developing APIs and SDKs for algorithmic strategies, with scoped wallets and symbol-specific subaccounts to control agent access. Risk limits, kill switches, and test environments offer users enhanced oversight of automated activities.
To mitigate front-running and sandwich attacks, AFX uses a dedicated fair-ordering mempool. This ensures that AI agents submitting orders under comparable conditions receive consistent execution treatment.
A trading competition for AI agents is planned within the second season of AFX's points program. Ken also described upcoming tools combining elements of traditional terminals with event-driven AI trading capabilities.
Users can access verifiable records for every order, fill, and liquidation, tracking asset interactions, entry and exit times, price execution, and adherence to assigned strategies during volatile market phases.
