World Foundation closed a $52.5 million fundraising round by selling over 217 million WLD tokens, each locked for 12 months. Pantera Capital led this initial sale, with the nonprofit aiming to use the funds to integrate its World ID system into enterprise platforms, consumer applications, and AI tools.

Token Movement and Market Reaction

On-chain data revealed the transfer of 217.4 million WLD tokens, indicating a sale price near $0.2415 per token. Simultaneously, the Foundation received 47.5 million USDC. Despite daily emissions dropping by 43% on July 24, from roughly 5.1 million to 2.9 million tokens, the WLD price has continued to slide. Currently trading around $0.34, Worldcoin has lost more than 10% in the past 24 hours and nearly 33% over the last month, underperforming compared to larger cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, which rose 5.4% and 14.9% respectively in the same period.

Investor Confidence and Future Prospects

Major players such as Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto participated in the round. Eightco Holdings, which holds 283 million WLD tokens as of early July, remains the biggest institutional holder publicly disclosed. This funding round follows a $135 million investment by Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Crypto in May 2025, as well as a $65 million over-the-counter sale earlier this year at around $0.27 per token.

Pantera Capital’s General Partner, Cosmo Jiang, framed this investment as a bet on growing enterprise demand rather than retail speculation. He highlighted the increasing need for Proof of Human solutions amid rapid AI development and enterprise adoption.

The World Foundation promotes its Proof of Human technology as essential infrastructure for the internet’s future, addressing challenges like synthetic profiles in dating platforms, unreliable advertising metrics, and difficulties verifying online voting and creative works. As AI agents multiply, distinguishing humans from machines is becoming critical.
