World Foundation just completed a $52.5 million WLD token sale, targeting institutional investors but imposing a strict one-year lockup on all purchased tokens. Buyers won’t be able to sell or trade their holdings during this period, signaling strong long-term support for the project’s vision.

Commitment Amid Rapid AI Growth

The sale, led by Pantera Capital and joined by firms like Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto, funnels funds into expanding the World ID system for enterprises, consumers, and AI agents. The forced lockup serves to align investor incentives with the network’s sustainable growth, a move that contrasts sharply with typical short-lived token plays common in crypto markets.

World ID’s network has grown impressively, surpassing 39 million members with over 18 million verified through Orbs and more than 475 million World ID proofs issued so far. The token sale builds on an earlier $135 million raise last year led by a16z and Bain Capital Crypto, underscoring continued institutional faith in the project despite a more focused scale this time.

Cosmo Jiang, Pantera Capital’s General Partner, emphasized the urgent need for reliable Proof of Human verification as AI technologies advance rapidly, noting growing enterprise traction. Tom Lee from Eightco Holdings highlighted World’s technology as a key element for securing and verifying digital interactions amid an increasingly AI-driven environment.
