Donald Trump's net worth surged by 183% during the first two years of his second presidential term, a jump far exceeding wealth gains of recent US presidents. Wall Street analyst Steve Rattner highlighted that new business efforts, including crypto projects tied to Trump, accounted for roughly 74% of this increase.
Comparison With Previous Presidents' Wealth Growth
The growth in Trump's fortune eclipses that of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden during the initial two years of their presidencies. Bush's net worth grew by 35%, Obama's by 47%, and Biden's by 5% over comparable periods. Combined, these percentages remain less than half of Trump's increase.
Rattner noted that unlike Bush and Obama, whose wealth largely stemmed from prior investments and royalties, Trump's billions originated mainly from deals and ventures initiated while in office.
Key Drivers Behind Trump's Wealth Increase
A significant part of Trump's wealth boost came from cryptocurrency-related businesses and licensing agreements:
- Trump Media Group assets
- World Liberty Financial and its stablecoin USD1
- Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin
- Various licensing deals
Rattner emphasized that the approximately $4 billion rise in Trump's fortune during his presidency is unprecedented both in scale and source, marking a sharp departure from previous presidents who did not generate revenue from initiatives started in office.
