Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, has launched its stock as a token on Solana’s blockchain, enabling instant, fee-free trading through the Sunrise gateway. This marks a major shift for the company, the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder, as its equity becomes accessible on decentralized exchanges native to Solana. The $MSTR token debuted on July 28 and quickly reached $36 million in trading volume within the first 24 hours, signaling strong market interest.
Backpack Securities issued the token, which is already traded across multiple Solana DEXes and aggregators. Sunrise, developed by Wormhole Labs and operational since November 2025, acts as Solana’s main portal for bridging external assets like tokenized stocks. It powers liquidity through its own decentralized exchange and partnerships with platforms such as Jupiter, the leading swap aggregator on Solana.
Unlike traditional brokerage shares, $MSTR tokens can be utilized directly in the DeFi ecosystem. Traders can use them as collateral, incorporate them in yield farming strategies, or add liquidity to pools capabilities impossible with standard stock ownership. Strategy’s massive Bitcoin holdings, about 843,775 BTC worth roughly $53.5 billion at an average purchase price near $75,482, underpin the token’s unique value proposition.
For retail investors active on Solana, $MSTR opens doors to equity exposure without the usual hurdles like KYC processes, market hour restrictions, or settlement delays. Trades settle as quickly as Solana confirms transactions, often within seconds. However, regulatory frameworks governing tokenized equities on decentralized platforms remain unsettled in many regions, and legal clarity is still evolving.
