Strategy boosted its U.S. dollar reserve by $525 million, bringing the total cash balance to $3.75 billion, according to a Form 8-K filed on July 27, 2026. This increase marks a focus on liquidity, with the cash reserve now covering approximately 2.1 years of dividend and interest obligations.
For the fifth straight week, Strategy kept its Bitcoin holdings steady at 843,775 BTC. The last Bitcoin acquisition was recorded on June 22, when the company added 520 BTC. Since then, the company has neither increased nor decreased its Bitcoin position, signaling a pause after previously buying regularly through share sales and debt funding.
Financial Moves and Market Reaction
Strategy raised $544.5 million in net proceeds by selling 5,429,160 MSTR shares via its at-the-market equity program during the same week. This capital injection helped to build the cash reserve. No preferred stock sales occurred during this period, though significant capacity remains across various programs, including nearly $23 billion available for MSTR and over $17 billion for preferred stock ticker STRC.
Despite holding 843,775 BTC at an average cost of $75,476 per coin, the current market value at $54.36 billion is about 14.84% below their average cost, resulting in an unrealized loss near $9.47 billion. Even so, Strategy opted not to adjust its crypto holdings while focusing on strengthening its cash position.
Following this financial update, MSTR shares climbed over 6%, reaching $97.59 in morning trading. The decision to pause Bitcoin purchases contrasts with previous periods when the company actively added to its BTC stash using proceeds from equity offerings and debt. This shift highlights a strategic pivot towards liquidity over accumulating more Bitcoin at present.
