MoonPay rolled out PayBox, a non-custodial wallet and payment vault on Solana, enabling users of AI chatbots Claude and ChatGPT to buy and transfer tokens through simple natural-language commands. Launched on July 29, PayBox lets AI agents handle transactions autonomously, replacing the need for manual searches on exchange platforms or browser extensions.

This innovation fuses two of the top AI systems with Solana’s lightning-fast blockchain and MoonPay’s payment infrastructure. The wallet is designed as a secure vault that AI bots can access with user permission, taking charge of key custody and transaction signing. Now, instead of clicking through complex dashboards, users just ask Claude or ChatGPT to convert tokens, make payments, or interact with Solana DApps directly.

Opening New Doors for AI and DeFi

Solana’s low transaction fees and instant settlements have made it a favorite among fintech projects and consumers, and the PayBox integration amplifies this by bringing AI-powered trading to millions. Users who never set up a Solana wallet before can now trade smoothly via chatbots, vastly expanding Solana’s potential market beyond crypto natives.

This shift could lead to a surge in DeFi participation and NFT purchases on Solana, key growth drivers for the blockchain this year. also developers gain new channels through AI chatbots, while financial institutions might view voice-activated wallets as a regulated, auditable way to engage with blockchain transactions.

However, regulators will likely focus on issues like custody, consent, and anti-money laundering for AI-initiated payments. Exchanges and wallet providers will have to adapt to servicing AI interfaces that layer over their platforms.
