On July 30, Quantum Solutions’ subsidiary GPT Pals Studio sold 1,000 ETH for $1.903 million, shifting funds to boost the company’s AI infrastructure efforts. This move drops their Ethereum holdings to 4,764.8 ETH.
The sale is part of a broader strategy. Quantum recently raised its authorized sale limit from 1,875 ETH to 4,375 ETH, allowing potential sales of an additional 2,471 ETH until October 30, 2026. This increase gives Quantum flexibility to cover costs related to data-center agreements, GPU hardware acquisitions, and launch prep. However, the company clarified that expanding the ceiling does not mean it will immediately offload the entire amount.
Accounting and Market Impact
The bulk of these sales started in June, with 904 ETH sold at about $1,777 each, generating around $1.606 million but incurring a ¥18 million loss based on their revalued carrying price. The recent July transaction brought a similar outcome, with a roughly ¥17 million loss due to Ethereum’s fair-value accounting. GPT Pals received a net price of $1,903 per ETH, whereas the tokens were valued at $2,003.97 each in May, resulting in a loss of roughly $100,970 or ¥17 million.
Quantum retains 4,764.8 ETH after these moves, with 3,050 tokens still pledged as collateral to a lender in Singapore. Further sales will depend on market conditions, funding demands, and progress in their AI infrastructure plans. The company is betting on these funds to accelerate its AI data center business amid the growing demand for computational capacity.
