More than one million bitcoins are held collectively by the top 10 publicly traded firms, with Strategy dominating the scene by owning 843,775 BTC, valued at around $58 billion as of late July 2026. This staggering figure puts Strategy ahead by a wide margin compared to its peers, holding nearly 20 times the amount held by the second-largest holder, Twenty One Capital.
Despite this huge bitcoin stash, Strategy’s stock price fell roughly 40% this year. The company, known for its aggressive bitcoin accumulation since 2020, has shifted its approach recently. It sold a combined 3,620 BTC in mid-2026 to cover dividend payments and other financial obligations, marking its first net bitcoin sales after years of a strict "never sell" policy. Even with these sales, it remains the biggest corporate bitcoin owner by far.
Other firms on the list include miners like Riot Platforms, whose shares have jumped 73% year-to-date, contrasting sharply with Treasury companies like Twenty One Capital, which saw a nearly 48% drop. SpaceX, which went public in June 2026 with its SPCX shares listed on Nasdaq, faces a 15% decline from its IPO price, holding 18,712 bitcoins.
Strategy’s strategy to back its business growth and debt issuance almost entirely with bitcoin purchases highlights a growing divide between miners gaining investor favor and some treasury-focused companies experiencing stock price pressure this year.
