Pi Network’s price jumped to nearly $0.085 on July 30, sparked by a looming deadline for a major node software update. After plunging to a support zone around $0.074, buyers returned to push the token up by about 7% within the day.
The buzz comes as Mainnet node operators face an August 11 cutoff to complete the Protocol 26 upgrade. Missing it could mean losing their connection to the network, a risk that has injected fresh urgency and buying interest into the market.
Despite the recent rebound, Pi remains down roughly 9% over the past week. Its market cap hovers near $907 million with $11 million in 24-hour trading. Earlier this week, the token’s daily relative strength index (RSI) hit 27 the most oversold point since it started trading before buyers stepped in for a roughly 10% bounce.
Still, the broader picture shows Pi trading near the bottom of a long decline off peaks of $0.20 from April and an all-time high of $2.99 in February 2025, holding the gains firmly in relief rally territory rather than signaling a major turnaround yet.
The Pi Core Team emphasized the importance of the upgrade, marking Protocol 26 as the ninth major step in the Mainnet migration path. Their reminder on July 29 confirmed that all Mainnet nodes must complete this update by August 11 to maintain network connectivity.
This upgrade deadline is a key moment for node operators and traders alike, creating a short-term demand burst. While the charts hint at some resistance near $0.085, the momentum recovery shown by the 4-hour RSI reaching 57.32 suggests traders are cautiously optimistic.
