NEAR Protocol reported an average of 854,000 daily transactions and 121,000 active daily addresses in the second quarter of 2026. These figures indicate solid user engagement as the network shifts focus from network building to driving adoption, particularly in decentralized finance and payments.
Network Growth and Ecosystem Activity
The Q2 update highlights key contributors: HOT Wallet dominated transaction volume, while Ref Finance remained one of NEAR’s top decentralized finance platforms. Stablecoin activity stayed solid with Tether (USDT) processing over a million transactions. This sustained activity reflects NEAR’s expanding ecosystem and growing utility.
Advancing Network Performance and Privacy Features
Performance improvements are underway through dynamic resharding, a scaling method that automatically splits and merges shards based on demand, eliminating the need for manual governance interventions. NEAR’s upcoming SPICE upgrade aims for 200-millisecond block times with near-instant transaction finality and parallel execution, which could support high-frequency tasks like AI agents needing constant on-chain updates.
Privacy also saw a big boost with NEAR’s Confidential Intents feature, designed to hide transaction details such as size and timing while allowing selective disclosure for compliance. This privacy system surpassed $30 million in total value locked by the end of Q2, underscoring growing interest. NEAR’s push for high-speed, confidential, and scalable solutions positions it as a Layer-1 contender in an increasingly competitive space.
