Zhibao, a company trading on Nasdaq, is moving forward with plans to establish a bitcoin treasury. To finance this, Zhibao intends to raise $220 million through a stock sale specifically aimed at accumulating bitcoin.
Building a Bitcoin Reserve through Capital Raise
The company sees bitcoin as a strategic asset for its treasury, reflecting a growing trend among Nasdaq-listed firms seeking cryptocurrency exposure. Zhibao's move illustrates how traditional companies are embracing crypto assets as part of their financial strategy rather than relying solely on cash holdings. This approach aims to hedge against fiat currency inflation risks and tap into bitcoin’s long-term appreciation potential.
The proposed fundraising will issue new shares to investors, with the proceeds designated for bitcoin purchases. This strategy allows Zhibao shareholders indirect exposure to bitcoin without the company engaging in direct mining or other crypto services.
This development comes amid fluctuating bitcoin prices, which currently hover around $65,000, with the cryptocurrency down approximately 1.4% in recent trading. By allocating $220 million to bitcoin, Zhibao could add roughly 3,400 BTC to its balance sheet.
