Michael Saylor stirred fresh speculation about Strategy's Bitcoin buying plans this Sunday, July 26. The Executive Chairman posted a tweet on X that hinted at new activity, showing the company’s bitcoin acquisition history with a cryptic note, "we’re going to need another color." The graphic was filled with orange dots marking each bitcoin purchase since 2020, suggesting the chart might soon need to reflect more transactions.
Currently, Strategy holds a massive 843,775 BTC, accumulated through 113 separate buys, with a total investment of $63.69 billion. However, with Bitcoin’s price shifts, their holdings now have an unrealized loss of around $9.47 billion, valued at roughly $54.36 billion. The average price per bitcoin stands near $75,653, a figure notably higher than current market prices.
Although Saylor’s social media presence often precedes official updates, his post does not confirm any immediate purchases. Recently, Strategy raised $263.5 million by selling shares, boosting its cash reserves to $3.225 billion without adding to its Bitcoin stash. This gesture signals a liquidity-focused approach rather than active bitcoin accumulation at this moment.
Adding complexity, Strategy still has the capacity to issue up to $23.53 billion in shares to fund future operations, leaving the door open for significant moves going forward. The tension among investors comes from interpreting this suggestive social media tease alongside the sober financial records, which show no fresh bitcoin purchases yet.
Saylor’s hints arrive amid a market where fluctuations and institutional strategies often sway bitcoin prices. As Strategy’s buying history has repeatedly influenced market sentiment, any potential resumption will be closely watched.
