Imagine topping up your MetaMask wallet in Vietnam without paying the usual 7% fee charged by card payments. Thanks to a new integration with VietQR, Vietnam’s widely used QR code payment system, that’s now possible. Instead of pulling out a credit card, users can scan a QR code and fund their wallets almost like paying for coffee.

This change comes via Banxa, a global payment processor, tapping into NAPAS, Vietnam’s national payment network that handles around 15 million QR transfers daily. During a special promotion through August 20, 2026, some wallets like Bitget offer zero fees on VietQR-funded transactions. Afterward, fees drop to about 3%, still less than half of traditional card fees.

To put numbers on it, if you put $1,000 into your wallet using a card, you lose $70 immediately to fees. With VietQR, that could be $0 during the promo or $30 after. For monthly buyers spending $500, the annual savings can reach nearly $240, a meaningful difference for active crypto traders.

Vietnam’s crypto scene is booming. The country ranks fourth worldwide in crypto adoption, with roughly 17 to 20 million users out of 100 million people. Its crypto market was valued at $220 billion in 2025, and on-chain transaction volume grew 55% year-over-year from mid-2024 to mid-2025. VietQR is already accepted by 85% of merchants, making it a familiar and trusted method for everyday payments. Now, it’s the same simple scan to buy crypto.

Banxa’s move signals wider potential for Southeast Asia, where similar QR payment systems dominate daily transactions. This integration could reshape how millions enter crypto markets, making it cheaper and more smooth.
