What the prediction markets are saying
Ballon d'Or prediction markets moved quickly after the World Cup. Bettors and market participants pushed Mbappe's odds noticeably higher, reflecting the view that this kind of season is exactly what France Football tends to reward. The 2026 award cycle now looks like his to lose.
That said, the field isn't empty. Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham are still in the picture, and their form over the coming months will matter. If either has a defining run in club competition before the announcement window closes, the odds could shift again. Right now, though, the market reads Mbappe as the front-runner.
On the transfer side, Elliot Anderson officially moved to Manchester City, becoming the club's record signing. It's a significant deal for English football, but it hasn't moved the needle on Ballon d'Or market dynamics in any meaningful way.
