An asset manager overseeing nearly $2 trillion in retirement funds is preparing to launch an XRP exchange-traded fund. This move opens up new investment opportunities for institutional clients who typically cannot buy XRP directly due to regulatory constraints.

Kamilah Stevenson, a specialist in wealth management, highlights that pension funds, endowments, and corporate retirement plans often face mandates that prevent direct custody of digital assets or trading on crypto exchanges. An ETF offers a regulated product wrapping XRP holdings, allowing these entities to gain exposure without breaking those rules.

ETF Structure Meets Institutional Demands

Unlike direct ownership, the XRP spot ETF trades on brokerage platforms like any other security. Investors don’t need to handle wallets or seed phrases; the fund’s custodian securely holds the underlying tokens. While this means ETF shareholders can’t use XRP for transactions, the format aligns with institutional risk and compliance policies.

Stevenson points out that big retirement managers entering crypto ETFs signal a growing demand from conservative investors beyond the usual crypto enthusiasts. A similar trend can be seen in other asset classes adapting to traditional financial frameworks.
