The London Stock Exchange (LSE) will launch an overnight trading venue in the first half of 2027, operating from 5:00 p.m. to 7:50 a.m. with a short pause each night. This platform will run separately from the LSE’s main market and initially focus on exchange-traded products (ETPs).

This initiative aims to attract international retail investors familiar with 24/7 access on crypto platforms. The LSE entered the crypto ETP space in mid-2024 by launching physically backed Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs, initially for professional investors. Regulatory changes by the Financial Conduct Authority have since allowed retail participation.

Alongside extended hours, the new venue will incorporate agentic AI tools to assist with portfolio analysis, market insights, and trade execution. This move aligns with actions taken by major US exchanges such as Nasdaq and NYSE, responding to evolving investor demands influenced by digital asset markets.
