The upcoming Cardano network upgrade, known as Van Rossum and linked to version 11, will not require ADA holders to move funds or restake. Existing balances, staking, and rewards remain intact through the hard fork.
This upgrade uses the Hard Fork Combinator to shift the protocol version without splitting the chain, enabling a smooth transition. Stake pool operators, exchanges, and developers must update to node version 11 once released. Wallet users should look out for official software and firmware updates from trusted sources like Cardano.org and Ledger.
No token swaps or new coins will occur; ADA continues as usual. The Van Rossum fork builds on Cardano’s pattern of incremental improvements seen in prior upgrades like Vasil and Valentine.
To track the rollout, stakeholders can monitor the official cardano-node GitHub releases and announcements on the IOG blog rather than unofficial social media channels. Users should ignore any requests to send ADA for upgrades to avoid scams.
