Kraken users opened their mobile app to find their EUR balance displaying as zero in the Instant Buy section. This visual bug struck without affecting actual funds, but the sudden disappearance of visible balances alarmed many traders.
The exchange confirmed the issue on July 28, 2026, categorizing it as a problem specifically with the EUR balance on its mobile app Instant Buy interface. According to Kraken, users' holdings remain intact, and the glitch only distorts what they see on screen, not their real balances.
The Instant Buy function continues to operate normally, though users are advised to switch to the Kraken website for purchases while the app undergoes fixes. Other parts of the platform, including trading in non-EUR assets and API tools, remain fully functional. Kraken has not revealed the cause or when the patch will be ready, indicating the investigation is ongoing.
This glitch mainly impacts a segment of Kraken’s user base that prefers convenience over cost, since Instant Buy is known for higher fees than the Pro interface. The issue is unrelated to an earlier FIX/WS API disruption involving Conflux and GMX tokens reported on July 22.
The overall Kraken platform displays stability despite this front-end hiccup. Traders relying on advanced features or alternative assets see no disruption.
The market reaction has been steady, with no notable volatility triggered by the display problem.
