Injective revealed several major updates at its July 16 Summit in Washington, D.C., including the listing of its INJ token on Robinhood Crypto and a new SEC transfer agent registration filing. The Robinhood listing enables millions of eligible US users to trade INJ, which debuted trading between $4.76 and $5 per token, valuing the market cap at about $494 million.
Unlike a typical security registration, Injective's SEC filing is for transfer agent status. This role involves maintaining official ownership records for securities. Injective aims to provide on-chain bookkeeping for tokenized real-world assets such as stocks and bonds. Approval would allow the network to manage ownership records compliant with US regulations, positioning it beyond a standard DeFi platform.
Institutional Engagement and New Technical Initiatives
The Summit drew participants from significant players like Circle, Galaxy, and Robinhood, signaling serious institutional interest in Injective’s expanding infrastructure.
Injective also became a member of the x402 Foundation, under the Linux Foundation. The foundation focuses on supporting internet-native payments tailored for AI agents and applications. Alongside this partnership, Injective launched an AI Agent SDK designed to enable developers to build AI-powered solutions on its blockchain.
The network published a whitepaper addressing compliance with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework, adding to its growing regulatory engagement.
Having processed over 2.9 billion transactions to date, Injective has established strong throughput capabilities.
Upcoming Regulatory Developments
Separately, a proposal from Canary Capital to create a staked INJ exchange-traded fund (ETF) has entered the SEC’s 21-day public comment period. This early-stage process is not an approval but a noteworthy development. Investors should monitor both this ETF’s progress and the transfer agent application, as their advancement would signal significant regulatory infrastructure for Injective.
