Hong Kong’s OSL Digital Securities has opened the doors for retail investors to trade XRP directly, marking a first in the city’s regulated crypto market. This move puts XRP alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana as part of OSL’s growing crypto lineup for everyday traders.

Launched on July 29, OSL’s XRP retail trading offers pairs including XRP/USD through its Flash Trade service and both XRP/USD and XRP/HKD over-the-counter. The inclusion of the Hong Kong dollar pair is significant, providing local investors straightforward fiat access to XRP within a fully licensed framework. Prior to this, retail traders often had to resort to offshore platforms without Hong Kong regulatory oversight.

Breaking New Ground in Hong Kong’s Crypto Scene

By enabling retail spot trading of XRP, OSL becomes the first platform licensed by the city’s Securities and Futures Commission to offer this service. The company holds Type 1 and Type 7 licenses under SFC rules and complies with Hong Kong’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance. OSL also highlights a custody insurance fund of $1 billion, underscoring its commitment to secure client assets.

The retail launch builds on OSL’s December 2025 debut of XRP trading, which was limited to professional investors and institutions. This step expands XRP trading availability to a broader population, potentially boosting liquidity and engagement within Hong Kong’s crypto community. The move also arrives as US regulatory bodies continue to debate full crypto rules, positioning Hong Kong as an accessible on-ramp for digital asset investments.
