The 12th European Blockchain Convention is set to return to Barcelona on September 16-17, just 11 weeks after the MiCA regulation officially came into force across Europe. This event marks the first major institutional meetup since the groundbreaking cross-border digital asset rules rolled out and promises to shape the industry's next steps.

Over 300 top executives from banks, regulators, and asset managers will converge at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, including representatives from J.P. Morgan, Coinbase, Fidelity International, and the Financial Conduct Authority. The focus will shift towards critical issues like CASP licensing, stablecoin frameworks, and how central bank digital currencies might transform cross-border settlements.

Europe’s Digital Asset Market Evolves

Europe’s regulatory clarity has attracted significant institutional interest. Deutsche Börse's $200 million investment in Kraken and Openbank's expanded crypto trading services across Germany and Spain highlight the market's momentum. With 80 out of Europe’s top 100 banks expected up from 50 last year the convention is becoming the continent’s central hub for digital asset deal flow.

Victoria Gago, EBC Co-CEO, emphasized the event's role, saying, "In 2026, European banks are deploying capital, institutional products are live, and regulation is in place. EBC is where the people driving that change meet once a year to do real business." Sessions will get into institutional capital allocation, asset tokenization, evolving regulatory structures, and the future of stablecoins and CBDCs as global payment tools.

Speakers confirmed so far include Emma Landriault, Head of Kinexys Labs at J.P. Morgan, and other key figures advancing Europe’s digital asset ecosystem.
