Ether.Fi's native token, ETHFI, fell 9% recently, pushed down by growing bearish momentum despite the project's solid fundamentals. Investor sentiment plunged to -6, nearing extreme pessimism on the -10 to 10 scale, reflecting a sharply negative mood among holders.
The number of token holders dipped slightly from 132,070 to 132,040, suggesting some larger investors may be trimming positions ahead of this quarter’s delayed payouts, contrasting with the $3.06 million distribution in Q1 2026. This small holder exit corresponds with increased selling pressure as participants wait for returns.
Strong Protocol Performance Counters Price Drop
Despite the sell-off, the EtherFi protocol remains profitable and continues to attract capital. It has generated $2.39 million in fees just 25 days into the current quarter, indicating persistent utility and demand. Fee generation recently hit around $390,000, underscoring ongoing active use of the platform.
Total value locked (TVL) has also increased, with about $201 million deposited over a five-day period. This suggests many investors are committing assets for the long term, even as price action remains weak.
Activity in the spot and perpetual markets supports this mixed picture. Spot market netflows show more buying and asset lock-up, with approximately $2.82 million moving into private wallets. The perpetual market’s Funding Rate remains positive, highlighting a dominance of long positions despite a 9% drop in open interest to $78 million. This signals traders are positioning for a potential price rebound.
The token’s recent drop contrasts with strong fundamentals, revealing a divergence between market mood and the protocol’s underlying health.
