Pascal Caversaccio joined the Ethereum Foundation’s board on July 29 for a one-year voluntary term, bringing his deep expertise in security and privacy to the organization’s leadership team. His addition expands the board to four members, alongside Vitalik Buterin, Aya Miyaguchi, and Patrick Storchenegger.
Caversaccio is widely recognized as the co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, a service that provides continuous incident response and protects over $180 million in digital assets. His background merges technical security work with privacy advocacy, having authored influential texts like The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto in 2024 and Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty in 2025.
The Ethereum Foundation describes its board as a "security council" that not only steers the organization’s vision but also ensures that management strategies align with the Foundation’s core values. This governance model reflects a commitment to privacy, security, and censorship resistance priorities that underpin the Foundation’s ongoing protocol development.
Earlier this year, the Foundation reorganized its structure, cutting about 20% of its workforce and grouping efforts into clusters focused on protocol, user access, community, and institutional engagement. Within this new setup, the protocol cluster treats privacy and security as non-negotiable guarantees, aiming at innovations like layer-one privacy features, post-quantum security, and defenses against exploitative practices such as maximum extractable value.
By bringing Pascal Caversaccio on board, Ethereum signals an increased emphasis on safeguarding user sovereignty and advancing security standards amid evolving threats. His role will be key in guiding the Foundation through these challenges as it continues to fortify Ethereum’s infrastructure.
