July’s crypto landscape reveals a striking divide Ethereum and XRP are gaining ground amid regulatory shifts, whereas smaller tokens wrestle with liquidity crunches. New institutional products and evolving rules sharpen the contrast, offering clues about who’s winning in this turbulent market.
Ethereum Gains Ground with Institutional Backing
Morgan Stanley’s Ethereum Trust recently launched, providing a regulated way for traditional investors to access ETH, complete with staking rewards. This development has coincided with heavy accumulation by corporate treasuries removing Ether from public markets, notably BitMine holding approximately 5.7 million ETH, close to 4.7% of the circulating supply. SharpLink’s recent purchase of 39,196 ETH, costing around $62.4 million, shows growing institutional appetite.
Analysts suggest Ethereum’s price could hover between $1,900 and $2,100 through August, with potential to surpass $2,500 if bullish momentum continues. Regulatory clarity on staking rewards could further boost demand. However, support levels between $1,527 and $1,700 remain critical to watch as volatility persists.
XRP’s Payment Potential Hinges on Regulatory Clarity
XRP traded near $1.10 to $1.15 in early July, with forecasts aiming for $2 to $2.50 mid-cycle, and some bullish scenarios projecting $3 to $4. The token benefits from stronger liquidity compared to many smaller payment coins, a key advantage as investors become more selective.
Still, XRP’s path depends heavily on clearer regulatory definitions. Its long-standing legal disputes in the US have affected exchange listings and investor trust. Progress in legislation could ease uncertainty, unlocking further institutional adoption and network growth. XRP’s position as a bridge asset in payments keeps it in focus, especially as regulators debate digital asset classifications.
Smaller Tokens Like HYPE Battle for Stability
In contrast, the hyperliquid HYPE token struggles near $55, down from June peaks around $73 to $76. Support hovers between $68 and $70, while resistance sits near $74 to $76. The market remains cautious despite positive signals from HIP-3 protocol adoption and USDH margin integration, which suggest a 2026 average target near $56.92.
A breakthrough above $64 could ignite a rally back toward $70 to $76, especially if the HIP-4 prediction-market launch succeeds. Yet HYPE’s shaky footing illustrates broader liquidity issues hitting smaller tokens, which face tougher conditions as capital flows concentrate in dominant players like ETH and XRP.
