BTQ Technologies has officially completed the purchase of QPerfect SA as of July 8, 2026, securing a critical piece in its quantum computing ambitions. The €18.59 million deal combines cash, shares, and performance-based earnouts, marking a major milestone for BTQ’s strategy to develop a full quantum security infrastructure.
QPerfect, a startup founded in 2023 and operating from Strasbourg’s European Center for Quantum Sciences, specializes in software and control systems tailored for neutral-atom quantum architectures. Their two flagship products, MIMIQ and QLU, bring essential capabilities to BTQ’s portfolio. MIMIQ is a quantum software emulation platform capable of reliably simulating systems with 100 or more qubits, enabling BTQ to test post-quantum algorithms against potential quantum attacks without waiting for fully functional quantum hardware. QLU complements this with digital twin modeling and control systems.
By integrating QPerfect’s technologies, BTQ now claims a vertically integrated quantum stack that spans from the physical quantum layer through to real-world network security applications. This integration is particularly relevant given BTQ’s January 2026 launch of a Bitcoin Quantum testnet, aimed at offering a quantum-resistant alternative to the traditional Bitcoin protocol. The new acquisition strengthens BTQ’s ability to simulate and harden its cryptographic defenses against future quantum threats.
Leadership and Partnerships
Both BTQ CEO Olivier Roussy Newton and QPerfect CEO Philippe Blot will continue leading their respective teams following the acquisition, with retention incentives to keep continuity. BTQ also announced a research partnership with the University of Strasbourg on July 22, 2026, to develop France’s first public neutral-atom quantum computing platform, a move expected to boost national quantum research capabilities.
Investors watching BTQ’s Nasdaq listing (ticker BTQ) should note the earnout conditions tied to QPerfect’s future performance, signaling confidence but also conditional risk. This acquisition could accelerate BTQ’s position in the quantum cryptography race, which is becoming key as industries seek to safeguard digital assets from emerging quantum computing threats.
