Data from Santiment reveals that large XRP holders have boosted their token holdings by 2.8% over the last five weeks, supporting the recent price rebound.
During this period, wallets with 100,000 to 100 million XRP increased their accumulations, while small retail investors holding less than 0.01 XRP reduced their balances by 5.2%. This divergence highlights institutional-scale buying against retail selling.
XRP traded mostly between $1.05 and $1.12 before the rally pushed it above $1.16, marking a 3% gain in the past week according to CoinGecko. Historically, XRP price movements tend to follow whale activity rather than retail investor behavior.
Market Context and Network Upgrades
Spot ETFs for XRP saw net inflows exceeding $5 million on July 21, following prior inflows earlier in the month after a brief outflow phase. Such ETF flows contribute to the asset’s momentum but do not guarantee sustained gains due to macroeconomic and crypto market factors.
Meanwhile, the XRP Ledger community is preparing for a major upgrade. Validators are set to vote on proposals introducing batch transactions and confidential transfers, along with enhancements to the Multi-Purpose Token standard, potentially impacting network functionality.
