Galaxy Digital has agreed to a 15-year naming rights contract with Texas Tech University, rebranding the renowned Jones AT&T Stadium as Galaxy Stadium starting with the 2026 football season. The deal, valued at over $70 million, marks a significant shift in the stadium's identity after nearly 80 years under its previous name.

Details of the Partnership

The new Galaxy Stadium will officially debut on September 5, 2026, during the Red Raiders’ game against Abilene Christian. The agreement includes a reported annual payment of approximately $4.7 million according to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.

Galaxy Digital, listed on Nasdaq as GLXY, will serve as Texas Tech’s official data center and digital assets partner. This collaboration extends beyond naming rights, encompassing branding across football and basketball programs, including in-game features, digital platforms, and social media channels.

Integration into Texas Tech Athletics

Galaxy Digital is embedding itself deeply within Texas Tech’s athletic infrastructure. The partnership covers areas such as student-athlete endorsements and academic pipeline development, positioning the deal as a foundational element of a broader strategic alliance.

The company’s Helios data center campus, located nearby in Dickens County, offers 1.6 gigawatts of approved capacity and currently employs Texas Tech graduates. This strengthens the link between the university’s academic programs and Galaxy’s operational facilities.

Preserving Legacy and Future Outlook

The original stadium name honored Clifford B. Jones, Texas Tech’s third president, whose contributions helped establish the football program. The university has committed to formally recognizing the Jones family’s legacy with a tribute to be announced later.

Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech’s Director of Athletics, highlighted anticipation for memorable moments in Galaxy Stadium, describing it as a premier college football venue. The naming rights agreement was arranged by Texas Tech Athletics Partners through Learfield, the university’s exclusive multimedia rights holder.

The market response to this announcement is yet to be determined.
