On August 3, U.S. Bitcoin spot ETFs experienced a net outflow of $61.53 million, ending a three-week streak of inflows that had briefly revived investor optimism.

After suffering over $8 billion in outflows between May and June June alone saw $4.5 billion exit July brought a shift with around $1 billion flowing back in over a few weeks. BlackRock’s IBIT ETF remains the dominant player, amassing roughly $62 billion since its January 2024 debut. Meanwhile, Grayscale’s GBTC has continued to be a key source of redemptions, as holders who were locked into the trust have used the ETF conversion as an opportunity to offload shares.

Despite the recent outflow, this $61.53 million move is minimal compared to the total assets in these ETFs and partly reflects technical factors like arbitrage unwinding rather than a fundamental change in Bitcoin sentiment. Spot Ethereum ETFs, launched after Bitcoin’s, are also attracting attention and may be diverting funds away from Bitcoin products.
