Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock increased by nearly 3% in pre-market trading Monday, reaching about $510 as semiconductor shares gained amid improved market sentiment.
Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures also rose, with gains of 0.74% and 0.31% respectively. Investor focus is shifting to AMD’s upcoming Advancing AI 2026 event on July 22-23, where the company is expected to reveal updates on its next-generation AI CPUs and GPUs.
Event Expectations and Analyst Insights
UBS anticipates the event will primarily highlight technology roadmap updates rather than announce major new customer deals. Product updates likely include AMD’s data center CPUs Venice and Verano, its GPU models MI450x and MI500, plus initial details on the MI600.
Amazon and Anthropic are potential early customers for these products, though UBS cautions that blockbuster partnership announcements are unlikely at this time. The firm expects confirmation of volume production for the EPYC Venice server processor, with Verano planned to use TSMC’s 2-nanometer process.
