The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has experienced a significant drop in wallet activity, registering one of its weakest days in 2026. The decreasing engagement is attributed to the stagnant price movement of XRP, which has left traders uncertain and on the sidelines.

Decline in Active Wallets and New Addresses

Recent data from on-chain analytics firm Santiment reveals that XRPL recorded only 25,350 active wallets in a single day, making this the second lowest daily count for the current year. Additionally, new wallet creations plummeted to 2,130, a figure not seen since November 2024. The decline in new users highlights a cooling interest among traders, who appear hesitant to engage in the market following a brief spike in buying activity in late June.

This downturn in engagement coincides with XRP's modest price fluctuation. Currently, XRP is trading at $1.10, with a slight decrease of 0.57% over the past 24 hours. The price trajectory has remained notably narrow, leading many potential investors to wait for clearer market catalysts before committing any funds.

Transactions Show Mixed Trends

Despite the dip in wallet activity, some segments of XRPL display a contrasting trend. The number of source-tagged transactions surged by 28.6%, alongside a 13% rise in the usage of source tags. These tags are frequently utilized by exchanges to pinpoint customer payments and suggest that existing users continue to engage with the network.

The uptick in tagged transactions implies that while new wallet creation may be sluggish, established users are consistently active in conducting transactions. This disparity suggests the network remains viable, even amid a lack of new entrants.

Potential Factors for Future Growth

Experts, including Santiment, have provided insights into what could reignite activity on the XRPL. With the introduction of RLUSD, an increase in tokenized assets, broader institutional payment applications, and the emergence of lending products, there could be a pathway to revitalize user participation.

For the time being, quantitative data indicates that both active wallets and new address creation are at a standstill as users await notable developments before increasing their participation.
