Investors can now add gold to their portfolios through a regular brokerage account — and actually get paid for holding it. Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) announced on June 29 that its gold-backed, yield-generating security, ticker $GLDY, is now available via a standard brokerage relationship. The rollout was made possible through a partnership with FINRA-registered broker Siebert Financial and regulated digital-securities platform tZERO.

The setup is straightforward: a Siebert broker can offer $GLDY to clients the same way they would pitch any stock or bond. There is no need for crypto wallets, no digital onboarding process, and no prior knowledge of blockchain required. Siebert manages approximately $20 billion in client assets and will handle distribution, while tZERO takes on custody of the asset on a regulated platform and is slated to support secondary-market trading. From the investor's perspective, adding $GLDY to a portfolio should feel no different than purchasing any other traditional instrument.

What makes $GLDY stand out in the gold investment space is its yield component. Conventional gold ownership typically comes with costs — storage and insurance for physical bullion, or management fees for ETFs and funds. $GLDY flips that dynamic by offering a yield of up to approximately 3.5% annually, paid out monthly and denominated in additional gold. This yield is generated through gold lending to commercial market participants such as jewelers, mints, and refiners — a long-established practice in professional bullion markets that has historically been out of reach for retail investors.

"Gold has always been the asset you buy and forget. The point of $GLDY is that your gold can finally work for you, and now you can get it through the same broker you already use. That combination of a productive asset and a familiar way to buy it is what brings new investors in," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder and CEO of Streamex.

At this stage, $GLDY is classified as a regulated security and is available exclusively to verified accredited investors. The new brokerage distribution channel targets Siebert's wealth management and institutional client base. Those interested in the product can either visit the Streamex platform directly or contact a licensed Siebert representative to evaluate whether $GLDY aligns with their investment objectives.

Looking ahead, Streamex has broader ambitions. The company is developing a tokenization platform focused on real-world assets — beginning with commodities — and has publicly stated its intention to launch a retail version of $GLDY in the coming months. Crucially, this future retail product is expected to carry the same yield structure of up to roughly 3.5% per year and will not require investor accreditation, giving everyday buyers access to the same compounding benefits currently reserved for institutional participants.

The timing of this launch is no coincidence. Tokenized gold has emerged as one of the fastest-expanding segments of the digital asset market. Growing numbers of investors are seeking hard-asset hedges that also generate returns, and the idea of gold that actively compounds has generated significant momentum. The fact that $GLDY is now being distributed through a FINRA-member brokerage firm signals that this asset class is entering the financial mainstream.

For commodities investors and traders, the bottom line is clear: a regulated, brokerage-accessible vehicle for holding yield-generating gold already exists today for accredited investors, with a retail-friendly version on the horizon.
