Elon Musk announced that SpaceX's extensive engineering data will be integrated into the training process of Grok's upcoming AI model, which is based on 2 trillion parameters. This update aims to significantly boost Grok’s engineering problem-solving capabilities.
Data Integration and Compliance
The engineering data excludes any information restricted by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), ensuring compliance with U.S. export laws. Despite these exclusions, the dataset includes substantial rocket and satellite engineering knowledge collected throughout SpaceX’s rapid expansion as a public company.
Earlier this year, SpaceX completed a record initial public offering, securing capital to accelerate both engineering and artificial intelligence development. The new AI model will incorporate this proprietary data during its supplemental training phase, nearly doubling the 1.5 trillion parameters used in Grok 4.5’s current V9 architecture.
Musk shared this update on X, stating that the inclusion of SpaceX’s data will dramatically improve Grok’s engineering abilities.
