Samsung will introduce its Galaxy smart glasses, powered by Google’s Android XR platform, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. The device focuses solely on audio features without a visual display and is scheduled for release in fall 2026, targeting the holiday shopping season.
Audio-Only Smart Glasses with AI Integration
The new smart glasses operate as an audio accessory using Google’s Gemini AI to manage voice commands, messaging, and hands-free photo capture. Qualcomm supplies the underlying chipset. Unlike augmented reality devices, these glasses do not have a heads-up display, emphasizing simplicity and reliability for the first generation.
Samsung collaborated with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to design two style options: the Warby Parker model aims at mainstream consumers seeking subtle tech, while the Gentle Monster version offers a more fashion-oriented design.
Market Position and Competition
This launch positions Samsung as a challenger to Meta’s existing Ray-Ban smart glasses, which also rely on audio features and AI assistants but integrate with Meta’s ecosystem. Samsung’s glasses run on Android, compatible with a broader range of smartphones worldwide, potentially expanding user reach.
The London event will also showcase Samsung’s foldable phones and smartwatches, but the glasses stand out as a significant move into smart wearables. Key details to expect include pricing, battery life, specific Gemini capabilities at launch, and any plans for a future version with a display.
