David Schwartz, Ripple's former CTO, expressed regret over selling most of his XRP and Ethereum holdings at low prices.
At one point, Schwartz held around 26 million XRP coins but gradually sold them off when prices hit new all-time highs, as per an agreement with his wife.
He revealed on Crypto Twitter that his risk aversion motivated these decisions, despite believing in crypto’s long-term potential.
Schwartz admitted, “I wish I hadn’t done those things. But I agreed with my wife to sell at every new ATH and I really, really hate risk.”
He also shared that if he had considered even a 1% chance of Ethereum reaching $2,368, he would not have sold it at $1.05.
His cautious approach led to missed opportunities as XRP and Ethereum surged well beyond his selling points.
Schwartz described himself as not built to handle high risk, saying, “I wish I was more comfortable with risk, but I’m just not that person.”
He views the current crypto phase as a once-in-a-generation chance to build wealth with blockchain adoption driving value.
This perspective aligns with Ripple’s ongoing efforts to expand XRP’s utility in institutional finance.
