Forty digital asset companies made CNBC and Statista's World's Top Fintech Companies 2026 list, representing 8% of the 500 firms selected. Ripple was among them, confirmed by the company in an X post on July 22, citing years of building client relationships through multiple market cycles rather than riding short-term momentum.

How the List Was Built

CNBC and Statista evaluated roughly 3,500 companies using more than 25,000 data points before finalising this year's honorees. Companies appear alphabetically within each category, not by rank. The digital assets segment covers businesses developing blockchain infrastructure for payments, custody, tokenization, compliance, and liquidity management. CNBC framed the category around real-world adoption, noting that banks, asset managers, and payments firms are increasingly integrating blockchain into core operations rather than treating it as an experimental add-on.

Ripple's Institutional Expansion

Ripple's inclusion sits against a backdrop of concrete moves to deepen institutional reach. CEO Brad Garlinghouse has pointed to approximately $16 trillion processed annually through correspondent banking as the addressable market for Ripple's cross-border payment technology. The company has also secured compliance under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, giving European financial institutions a regulated path to its infrastructure. The regulatory environment for crypto firms has been shifting, with major enforcement cases reaching resolution as the industry pushes toward clearer rules.

On the XRP Ledger itself, DBS and Franklin Templeton connected RLUSD with a tokenized money-market fund, creating a mechanism for real-time access to tokenized assets and liquidity. The International Monetary Fund has noted that similar developments are reshaping regulated financial infrastructure. Three areas where XRP is gaining institutional traction stand out:

  • Regulated cross-border payments targeting the correspondent banking corridor
  • MiCA-compliant digital asset services across the European Union
  • Tokenized asset frameworks on the XRP Ledger, including the DBS and Franklin Templeton RLUSD integration

The CNBC list does not assign scores or positions within categories, so Ripple's placement carries symbolic rather than competitive weight. Still, appearing among 40 digital asset firms out of 500 total reflects a broader shift: blockchain infrastructure is being evaluated on the same terms as traditional fintech, not as a separate speculative class.
