In response to a recent security breach that impacted its ecosystem, Humanity Protocol has announced the discontinuation of its H token, opting instead for a newly launched Ethereum-based version.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, detailed a comprehensive migration strategy that features a snapshot-based airdrop, a relaunch on the mainnet, and a dedicated compensation fund for specific edge cases. Importantly, the team clarified that individuals who purchased H tokens after the exploit will not be eligible for the replacement tokens.
Reasons for Token Replacement
The security breach was severe enough to necessitate a complete retirement of the existing token. Instead of a patching approach, the project has chosen to implement a clean break by deploying a new audited ERC-20 contract. Eligibility for the new token will be determined by a pre-attack snapshot captured at certain block heights. These include:
- Ethereum block: 25,274,179
- BNB Chain block: 103,071,069
- Humanity Mainnet block: 24,247,803
The snapshot was taken on June 8, 2026, at 17:25:35 UTC, and only balances recorded at this moment will be eligible for the airdrop. Anyone who purchased H tokens after this timestamp is excluded from receiving new tokens, including those who invested after the price drop in hopes of a recovery.
Token Details: Contract and Distribution
The new token will retain the $H ticker and will be launched on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token. The official smart contract address is 0xE76c5b78f93909d34404E9eb4C1f19e7582a5dE1, and the swap ratio will be 1:1, so holders will receive one new H token for each old token held before the snapshot.
Eligible holders will include those across Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Humanity Mainnet networks. Individuals maintaining H tokens in standard self-custody wallets will seamlessly receive their new tokens via the airdrop mechanism. For those holding tokens within DeFi protocols and liquidity pools, the distribution will be managed differently, due to the unique nature of those balances.
Exclusions and Coordination with Exchanges
Addresses associated with the exploit have been specifically identified and will not receive airdropped tokens. The Humanity Protocol team is also collaborating with exchanges and other infrastructure partners to facilitate the migration process for centralized exchange users. Holders of H tokens on exchanges should monitor announcements for further instructions regarding the transition.
