Alphabet stock took a hit in July after reports surfaced that Google had pushed back Gemini 3.5 Pro by months. The reasoning model, Google's answer to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, still has no official launch date from the company. Prediction market traders, though, are already pricing in when it arrives.
Kalshi has seen more than $320,000 wagered on the exact timing. Current odds put a 46% chance of release before August 16, jumping to 63% by August 21, and climbing to 76% by August 31. The betting suggests August is when Google's hand gets forced.
The Made by Google event looms
Google scheduled its annual Made by Google event for August 12 in New York City. The company will unveil the Pixel 11 smartphone lineup there. Some investors and social media users are already speculating that Gemini 3.5 Pro could debut alongside the new hardware, though the competitive AI landscape has intensified with rivals releasing updated models.
Google hasn't said whether the model will show up at the event. The company remains quiet on features, pricing, access terms, or when Gemini 3.5 Pro actually rolls out. That silence is probably intentional, but it's also keeping GOOGL stock sensitive to any scrap of news through the end of August.
The original delay stemmed partly from engineers needing more time to fix coding performance, according to Bloomberg's reporting. With competitors moving fast, every week matters now.
