Gondor has unveiled a new margin account system designed specifically for traders on the Polymarket platform, allowing them to use their entire portfolio rather than individual positions for borrowing. This innovative approach aims to enhance the trading experience by providing greater access to credit.

Details of the V1 Launch

The newly introduced product, referred to as V1, employs a cross-margin model that evaluates a trader's complete Polymarket holdings as collateral prior to extending credit. The private access phase is set to commence next week, with a public launch anticipated in September. Gondor has emphasized that it will not take custody of user assets, maintaining a user-centric focus.

Transition from Isolated Lending

Prior to this launch, Gondor conducted a closed beta for seven months, during which it tested its lending system. Over 150,000 users expressed interest by joining a waitlist, leading to the selection of 1,000 active traders from Polymarket to participate in the beta program. The original isolated lending model posed certain risks, as each position was treated separately, exposing lenders to potential rapid losses before liquidation could occur.

This isolated approach resulted in higher borrowing costs and stricter lending conditions due to the inherent market risks. Notably, only liquid markets were eligible for loans, which limited the borrowing capacity for traders.

Benefits of Portfolio-Backed Borrowing

The V1 product aims to resolve these challenges by permitting gains from one position to counterbalance losses from another, similar to traditional prime brokerage practices. This portfolio-backed structure is expected to facilitate larger credit lines, improving the overall borrowing experience for traders.

Gondor’s strategy follows the company's initial lending efforts that were supported by an angel funding round in August 2025, led by Maven11 Capital. With participation from various investors, including those associated with Polymesh and Rhino.fi, the company is focused on developing solid lending products for Polymarket users.
