On July 6, Ethereum is trading at $1,770.08, marking a 0.79% decrease as it approaches critical resistance levels. The digital asset is testing both the Supertrend line at $1,803 and the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $1,804, following a recovery from a low of $1,527.
Price Predictions for Ethereum
Prediction markets estimate a 57% chance that Ethereum (ETH) will reach $1,900 by July, with only a 32% probability of hitting $2,000. To capitalize on this momentum, ETH needs a confirmed daily close above the $1,804 mark, since every bounce since the June sell-off has been capped at this level.
Current Market Analysis
The recent price movements illustrate the continuing importance of technical analysis for Ethereum:
- Support Levels: $1,763 for intraday lows and $1,700 based on the 20-day EMA.
- Resistance Levels: $1,803 and $1,804 from the Supertrend and 50-day EMA cluster, followed by $1,970 on the 100-day EMA.
Additional indicators remain bearish, with the 100-day EMA at $1,970.94 and the 200-day EMA at $2,255.54. A failure to sustain the current rally could see prices decline towards $1,400 by September.
Vitalik Buterin's Lean Ethereum Plan
On July 5, Vitalik Buterin released a new roadmap titled “Lean Ethereum,” detailing the platform’s strategic focus until 2029. This roadmap emphasizes three primary areas: quantum safety, enhanced privacy, and scalability improvements.
Buterin stresses the urgency for quantum-resistant solutions and has elevated privacy to a primary objective, rather than a secondary consideration. Furthermore, proposed changes include a possible transition to a new virtual machine, allowing better programmability and scaling at the protocol level, reflecting the comprehensive changes implemented during the Merge.
As part of further discussions held in Berlin among Ethereum researchers, this new framework has generated mixed reactions. While some argue that AI-assisted development might expedite this timeline, others express concerns about the ambitious nature of the proposed updates.
