Circle unveiled its Agent Stack at UC Berkeley’s Agentic AI Summit, presenting a toolkit designed to enable AI agents to transact autonomously using USDC stablecoins. The platform supports transactions down to one-millionth of a dollar, positioning USDC as the ideal digital currency for machine-driven commerce.
The Agent Stack consists of three main parts: programmable Agent Wallets assigned to AI systems, an Agent Marketplace connecting these agents to various services, and the Circle Gateway that manages settlements and nanopayments as small as $0.000001. During the summit, Circle demonstrated how an AI agent can independently buy a phone number for 5 USDC, place a voice call, and settle the bill of 0.133 USDC without human input.
Nikhil Chandhok, Circle’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, highlighted the company’s vision for an “Agentic Economy” where AI agents handle buying, selling, and payment settlement entirely on their own. The event attracted over 5,000 participants both in-person and online, signaling significant interest in autonomous AI financial infrastructure.
Alongside the demo, Circle wrapped up a $222 million presale of its ARC token, valuing the Arc network near $3 billion. The Arc network complements the Agent Stack by providing programmable settlement systems tailored for digital transactions, aiming to deepen integration with emerging AI-driven marketplaces.
