Blockchain.com has launched a collaboration with Polymarket, enabling users to engage in prediction market trading within its brokerage app. This integration facilitates trading on real-world outcomes for eligible users without the necessity of transferring funds to an external prediction platform.
The partnership serves Blockchain.com's extensive user base, which includes 43 million verified accounts. With this development, users can now access event contracts beside the digital assets they already manage. This integration responds to the growing demand for event-based trading, highlighted by Polymarket's $4.2 billion in trading volume linked to global football matches during the current tournament cycle.
According to Peter Smith, CEO of Blockchain.com, major sporting events have emerged as the peak trading periods for prediction markets. With the new feature, users can easily participate in trades without needing to set up a separate account. Smith stated, "Partnering with Polymarket allows us to instantly expand our feature set into the fastest-growing sector of crypto at the exact moment global interest is hitting its peak."
Polymarket benefits from this deal as it gains access to Blockchain.com’s established customer network. Shayne Coplan, Founder and CEO of Polymarket, emphasized that this partnership allows users to engage with the world’s largest information market within the platform they already use to manage their digital assets.
This trend of integrating prediction markets into existing brokerage platforms is not unique to Blockchain.com. Other notable platforms such as Coinbase and Robinhood have also begun offering prediction markets alongside their trading features, indicating a shift in how brokers approach the distribution of new trading products. By keeping prediction markets accessible in the same account where clients hold their assets, brokers can enhance user experience while expanding their offerings.
