In a significant market movement, Bitcoin has risen above the $64,000 threshold within the past 24 hours, marking a notable uptrend that also positively influenced altcoin prices. Ethereum, closely tracking Bitcoin's trajectory, increased by 3.5%, approaching the $1,800 level, while other altcoins such as XRP, Solana, and HYPE experienced considerable gains.
According to data from CoinMarketCap, Omni Network (OMNI) emerged as the strongest altcoin performer, boasting a remarkable 33% increase. It was followed by Aventus (AVT), ApeCoin, EIGEN, and ARB, which also recorded significant gains. Despite the overall market uptrend, some altcoins faced challenges, with TRIA, SEAM, and JTO experiencing the most pronounced declines.
Whale activity remains buoyant amid these fluctuations, with several notable trades drawing attention. An anonymous investor, having missed prior rallies in ANSEM, CZ, and TCC, took profits in CASHCAT but faced a substantial loss. The whale sold 20 million CASHCAT memecoins prematurely, resulting in an unrealized potential loss of about $3.6 million, securing only a $2,803 profit. After this, the investor repurchased 7.7 million CASHCAT, now owning approximately 900,600, valued at $162,000, with total profits from CASHCAT hovering around $396,000.
Another investor, identified by the address “0xf02d,” closed their HYPE position after nearly two months, incurring a loss of $4.52 million. In a strategic pivot, they opened a new 10x leveraged short position on 283,948 HYPE, amounting to $19.34 million. Additionally, a whale resurged after several months of inactivity, depositing $892,000 into their wallet. This prominent trader opened long positions in two altcoins on Hyperliquid, including a ZEC position valued at $7.01 million with 10x leverage and a LIT position worth $3.98 million with 5x leverage.
Lastly, cryptocurrency wallet provider Exodus has decreased its holdings across major cryptocurrencies. Recent data indicated that Exodus sold 56 BTC, 976 ETH, and 2,924 SOL, which could suggest a shift in strategy among institutional holders.
