Avalanche confronts a significant market event as a $23.3 million AVAX token unlock coincides with a sharp increase in network activity. This situation may influence AVAX price dynamics in the short term.

AVAX was trading at $6.58 at the time of reporting, marking a 2.1% gain over 24 hours. However, the token remains below its all-time highs, raising doubts about whether growth in network usage will lead to stronger price gains.

Network growth and token dynamics

Network activity on Avalanche has surged dramatically over the past year. Daily transactions rose from about 300,000 in Q2 2025 to a peak of 6.2 million in July 2026. Even after cooling, transactions remain at approximately 2.62 million per day, a figure substantially higher than the previous year. This growth took place despite a broader downturn in crypto markets.

Token burn mechanisms continue to reduce circulating supply, with 135.65 AVAX recently removed through fee burning. Stablecoin holdings on Avalanche's platform have grown to exceed $2 billion at times, reflecting increased liquidity across decentralized applications.

Despite these positive fundamentals, AVAX has struggled to maintain sustained price recovery, highlighting a disconnect between blockchain usage and market valuation.

According to reports, Avalanche faces this key test as traders prepare for the July 21 token unlock, assessing whether the increased supply will prompt selling pressure.

Avalanche’s position is also bolstered by its partnership with FIFA, which selected Avalanche to support the blockchain infrastructure for its FIFA Collect Layer-1 network, expanding adoption within major global sporting events.
